Frequently Asked Questions

What should I look for when selecting a robe for my property?

A lot depends on your customer profile, your location, and your budget. We make robes in fabrics suitable for every climate, a variety of size ranges, and at many different price levels. For example, if your customers are a mix of both men and women and you're located in a warmer climate where humidity is a factor, or your guests spend a lot of time at the pool, you may wish to consider one of our waffle robes. If your customers are mostly people of the upper management variety, your best bet may be a luxe terry velour or microfiber shawl. We'd be happy to review your particular situation and make a recommendation. Send us an e-mail with all the details and we'll respond.

How long have you been in business?

Cypress was founded in 1980, and our parent company Russell-Newman Inc. was founded in 1939.

Where are you located?

Sheffield, Massachusetts. Please feel free to call, e-mail or write us.

How do I wash my Cypress robe?

We recommend machine wash in warm water. Use non-chlorine bleach only when needed. Initial water temperature should not exceed 105 F or 40 C. Most modern detergents will thoroughly clean at these temperatures. Rinse in cool water. Watch the amount of detergent used whenever laundering towels or terry bathrobes, as both tend to produce more suds than usual making it difficult to rinse completely. Leaving a detergent residue in either towels or bathrobes can cause them to discolor, wear out faster, and lose their soft hand. Occasionally, run your towels and robes through the wash cycle without detergent. You may be surprised. Tumble dry at low to medium temperature. You can significantly extend the life of your robes by removing them from the dryer before they are bone dry. If your dryer has automatic Less Dry or More Dry type settings, please choose Less Dry. Remove promptly from dryer and fold or hang.

How long do robes last?

The life of your robe will depend on how often it's laundered and under what conditions. It also has a lot to do with what you as the hotel or spa consider to be acceptable condition. For example, while one property may consider a robe laundered 30 times to be ready for retirement, another property may extend in-service time to 40 or 50 launderings.

How many robes should I purchase for my property?

We recommend a minimum of two per guest, so there is one in the wash and one in the room.

How do I calculate embroidery cost?

Embroidery cost is based on stitch count. Just send us your artwork in the size you would like, on disk or via e-mail, and we will give you an estimate.

What if I have a problem?

We guarantee your 100% satisfaction. If you ever have a question or problem, just contact us and we will resolve it.

What is the difference between loop terry and terry velour?

Loop is fabric that literally has loops on both sides, like a towel. It's very full and absorbent. Velour is the same fabric with the loops sheared off on the outside for a velvety soft finish; absorbent loops remain on the inside.

What is microfiber?

Microfiber is a luxury synthetic fabric made from very fine "micro" yarns. The finished fabric looks like silk and wears like iron. Our microfiber robe with blended terry lining will usually outlast terry or waffle robes.
